Beach ERosion Mechanism Analysis: study of sedimentary dynamics along the Apulian beaches with multidisciplinary approaches

The research project concerns the study of the processes that regulate the mechanisms of erosion, transport and sedimentation in coastal sectors characterized by sandy beaches. The aim is to propose a standard for the analysis, monitoring and safeguarding procedures of these important transition environments. The development of a standard approach responds to the economic and social needs of both companies that deal with interventions on the coasts and public decision-makers in the planning and operational planning and control phases of the planned actions (e.g. Regional Coastal Plan). This project proposal is aimed at defining a series of classical and innovative instrumental analyzes and qualitative-quantitative determination that make the actions for safeguarding, protecting and restoring sandy coasts more streamlined and targeted. This study responds to the pressing and continuous need to overcome the conflicts between naturalistic needs and the use of beaches by establishing scientifically sound criteria, allowing to obtain a series of data related to the dynamics of the coasts..
